The sausage stand LEO is Vienna's oldest sausage stand and was founded in 1928 by Leopold Mlynek sen. founded.

The LEO sausage stand was a mobile stand as early as 1918 to 1928. Leopold Mlynek sen. got a concession in 1918, but only for the night. So he had to move the stand every day at 4 a.m. from his sales place on the corner of Währinger Gürtel, Nussdorfer Strasse in the 9th district , into an inner courtyard. In 1928, a permanent stand was built on the already known sales area, the first sausage stand in Vienna. This stand was in use until 1952.

In 1952 Fritz Wilfing was employed, who worked 6 nights a week in the sausage stand for 25 years, from Tuesday to Sunday from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. He became a real Viennese original and served many celebrities from culture, media, politics and business. He always greeted his guests with: "Servus my friend!" The most famous guest was the then incumbent Chancellor Bruno Kreisky , who wrote in Fritz's studbook: "Better than hours ago at the banquet, I now enjoy the hot one at the sausage stand."

In 1952 Leopold Mlynek jun. the second stand, which was in use until 1978. In 1969 Leopold Mlynek jun. Took over. the sausage stand LEO. In 1978 the third stand was built. In 1987 the stand moved to its current location at Döblinger Gürtel 2, not far from the original location. In 1991 the daughter of Leopold Mlynek jun, Vera Tondl, took over the management. In 1997 she built the fourth stand in the bright color turquoise.

In 2008, Das Wien Buch chose the LEO sausage stand as No. 1 in Vienna based on a sausage stand ranking list. This year, the LEO sausage stand celebrated its 80th anniversary. In 2011, Puls 4 named the LEO sausage stand as the best sausage stand in Vienna in its city report.

The LEO sausage stand has been reported in numerous press reports to this day. In 2012, Der Tagesspiegel reported in its article Wiener Wahre on the LEO sausage stand. In 2010 a detailed report was published in the Standard . The sausage stand rankings are very popular in the press; stadt-wien.at carried out the latest selection of the Viennese sausage stands in 2015 - here sausage stand LEO achieved 2nd place.
