Włodzimierz Mlak

Włodzimierz Mlak (born June 9, 1931 in Sosnowiec , † April 10, 1994 in Krakow ) was a Polish mathematician.

Włodzimierz Mlak received his doctorate in 1958 under Tadeusz Ważewski at the Jagiellonian University . Mlak was interested in functional analysis . He worked at the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences and headed the Cracow department from 1971 to 1989. Mlak wrote the textbook Hilbert Spaces and Operator Theory , which was published in Polish in 1987 and has been available in English since 1991.

Włodzimierz Mlak was awarded the Stefan Banach Prize in 1966 .
