WJ Maryson

WJ Maryson is the pseudonym of the Dutch writer Wim Stolk (born December 21, 1950 in De Lier , South Holland ; † March 10, 2011 ).

Act

Maryson was a fantasy novelist in the Netherlands. Before he started as a writer, he worked in advertising for eighteen years and built up his own successful advertising agency . During an illness he wrote his first novel. About himself he said in an interview: “After twelve trades and at least fourteen misfortunes, I wrote my very first story during my illness:“ Sperling ”. I sent them (...) to five publishers. To my great surprise, two publishers wanted to get the book out. During a conversation with a publisher, the pseudonym WJ (from “Willem Johannes”) Maryson (“son of Marie”, and that's it!) ”Arose .

WJ Maryson was also a professional keyboard player, painter and producer . Two CDs have been released in Germany , Sperling and On goes the Quest , which were also released in Sweden, Belgium, France and Japan.

Wim Stolk was married and has three children. The author died in hospital on March 10, 2011 because of heart disease.

Award

  • Paul Harland Prize 2007 for his work Nietzsche Station , written under the pseudonym Maria de Wilde .
