The WGME transmission mast is a 493.5 or 495.1 meter high transmission mast from WGME , an American television company, in Raymond , in the US state of Maine .
At the time of its completion, the WGME transmission tower was not only the tallest structure in Maine, but also the tallest structure in the world. However, it was exceeded in 1960 by the KFVS transmission mast in Cape Girardeau , Missouri . Since the completion of the WMTW transmitter mast in Baldwin in 2001, the WGME transmitter mast is only the second tallest structure in Maine.
