WHA is the oldest non-commercial radio broadcaster in the United States. The radio station started broadcasting from the University of Wisconsin in Madison , Wisconsin in 1922 and has been broadcasting ever since. It is the flagship station for Wisconsin Public Radio and broadcasts the Ideas Network program .
WHA broadcasts a variety of news and talk formats on Wisconsin Public Radio , NPR , American Public Media , Public Radio International, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, and the BBC .
WHA family
In addition to the radio station on medium wave and VHF, WHA operates a television station called WHA-TV. Each owner is the Board of Regents, the University of Wisconsin System . WHA-TV is the television station of the Wisconsin Public Television Network.

WHA is licensed under the branding Wisconsin Public Radio Ideas Network for the medium wave frequency 930 k Hz with 5 k W.
In addition, the program is broadcast by two "low-powered FM translators" and by WERN-FM on HD3.
