history

The company, now known as WSK Bank AG (Wiener Spar- und Kreditinstitut), was founded in 1871 under the name Spar- und Advance Consortium Währing of the first general civil servants' association in Vienna-Währing. The association provided pension benefits or money to bridge emergency situations for the surviving dependents of civil servants, and owners of life insurance policies were also entitled to loans.

In 2012 the name was changed to WSK Bank AG. Since the name change took place as part of a universal succession, all customer agreements and contracts remained in place.
