WWF Wood Group

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The WWF Wood Group ( called Group 98 in Germany before 2001 ) is an association of companies that sell FSC -certified wood products. The group is coordinated by the environmental organization WWF .

background

In 1997, the WWF founded a worldwide network in which companies can join together to form buyer and producer groups. The aim was to encourage processing and trading companies to get involved in sustainable forestry. At the same time, the aim of the association was to promote the marketing of FSC-certified wood products. The WWF Wood Group, for example, buys whole logs and has them cut into boards because the energy required to manufacture furniture from solid wood is low. Affiliated companies include Migros , Coop , Möbel Pfister and Karstadt .
