Waalhaupten is part of the market town of Waal in the Ostallgäu district ( Swabia administrative district ). The district is about three kilometers south of Waal on the connecting road from Waal to Lengenfeld . The river Ach, which flows into the Singold, flows through the district, which has around 300 inhabitants .

history

The village was founded apparently from Waal, as the name of the place “to the heads of Waal” indicates.

The former parish church of St. Michael , east of the town center, was first mentioned in documents in 1403. However, it is assumed that a church was founded as early as the 8th or 9th century with a wooden church. The previous building of the parish church of Our Lady of Sorrows (mater dolorosa) was already mentioned in the late Middle Ages, today's church was built in 1713 and decorated with two ceiling paintings by Matthäus Günther .

The local poet Peter Dörfler grew up on his parents' farm . In 1977 a community center was built and in 1978 Waalhaupten was incorporated into the administrative community of Buchloe as part of the regional reform to Waal .

societies

Waalhaupten has a volunteer fire brigade , a hunting association , a music band , a rifle club , soldiers and warriors , as well as its own parish council .
