distribution
The species is widespread in the northern Mediterranean as well as in the south of Central Europe. To the east, the occurrence extends to Central Asia . In Germany the juniper margin bug occurs mainly in the south.
Way of life
The heat-loving bug species prefers sun-exposed areas as their habitat. The common juniper ( Juniperus communis ) is the most important food and host plant of the bug species . In Central Europe, imported conifers and other juniper species are also used as host plants. The larvae and adults suckle on the berries of their host plant. The bugs are observed from May. The eggs are laid until the summer. The adult bugs of the next generation appear from the beginning of August. The adults overwinter in the leaf and needle litter.
