Wade Hayes
Wade Hayes (born April 20, 1969 in Bethel Acres , Oklahoma ) is an American country singer.
Life
Hayes grew up in Bethel Acres, where he was surrounded by country music from the start. His father, a professional musician, played in honky tonks and bars. Motivated by his example, Wade began making music at an early age. First he tried his hand at the mandolin, and at the age of eleven he switched to the guitar. Influenced by several styles such as honky-tonk, southern rock or bluegrass , he developed his unmistakable sound.
When he was a teenager, his father got a contract with a smaller record company and the whole family moved to Nashville. After only a year, the company went bankrupt, after which the family returned to Oklahoma. Wade began to perfect his guitar playing and worked in his father's band, where he sang in the background choir, among other things. After graduating from high school, he attended three colleges, but soon made the decision to pursue a musical career. Ricky Skaggs , whom he saw in the Country Music Award Show , served as an important incentive for him . Eventually he moved to Nashville and made some demo tapes for record companies. Chick Rains , with whom he wrote some songs, brought him together with the record producer Don Cook ( The Mavericks , Brooks & Dunn ). Don was enthusiastic about Wade and gave him a record deal with Columbia Records .
His debut album, Old Enough To Know Better , was released in 1995. The record was a bestseller, the title track quickly reached number 1 on the country singles chart. In the same year he was nominated for New Male Vocalist of the Year by the Academy of Country Music . His single Don't Stop reached number 10, the ballads I'm Still Dancin 'With You and What I Meant to Say reached number 4 and 5.
Wade's second album, On a Good Night (1996) sold just as well and produced the hit of the same name in the singles charts (number 2). The third album When The Wrong One Loves You Right (1998) was again a great success and reached number 9 on the album charts. In 2000 Highways and Heartaches was published . Wade Hayes is a representative of the New Traditional Movement , which combines traditional with modern style elements. His music shows strong rock influences.
