Brothers Credé wagon factory
The Waggonfabrik Gebrüder Credé was founded in 1897 by the brothers Conrad (1849–1918) and Adam Credé (1850–1940) in Niederzwehren (a district of Kassel since 1936 ). Her father ran a carpentry shop in Oberzwehren .
The first orders came from the Prussian state railways for freight - and mail - wagons . Soon passenger cars of all classes were also being built. Credé became known through the construction of the wagons for the two Rheingold trains in 1928 and 1962. From 1899 tram cars and later omnibuses and trolleybuses were also manufactured. After the Second World War , the production u. a. expanded to include small motorcycles and vending machines . From 1956 the company was a wholly owned subsidiary of the Hörder Bergwerks- und Hütten-Verein , which was incorporated into the Hoesch Group in 1966 . In 1967 production at Credé was stopped. The DEZ shopping center has been built on the former factory site over the years .
