Wahan Howhannisjan ( Armenian Վահան Հովհաննիսյան ; born August 16, 1956 in Yerevan ; † December 28, 2014 in Germany ) was an Armenian politician of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation . He was Vice President of the Armenian National Assembly from 2003 to 2008 and a candidate in the February 2008 presidential election.

Vahan Hovhannisyan graduated in history and archeology at the Pedagogical Moscow State University in 1978.. From 1978 to 1980 he served in the Red Army .

He was a member of the ARF Central Committee from 1990 to 1992 and of the ARF Office from 1992 to 1995. From 1995 to 1998 he was imprisoned. He then became the adviser to President Robert Kocharyan from 1998 to 1999 . Since 1999 he has been a member of the National Assembly; he was re-elected in 2003 and 2007.

Wahan Howhannisjan met the Bulgarian MP Kalina Krumowa from the nationalist Ataka party during the 23rd Assemblée Parlementaire de la Francophonie in Yerevan in early May 2010 and praised the party's foreign policy activities. The party's position on the protection of the Armenian community and the initiative to recognize the genocide , Howhannisjan said, is venerable and a huge gesture towards Armenia. Ataka is firmly committed to the recognition of the Armenian genocide and combats Turkey's possible membership in the EU.

In 2008 he resigned from the post of Vice-President of the National Assembly in protest against the Armenian-Turkish negotiations. “The situation would be completely different if these people showed any regret. Turkey gives no sign of it. How could we support such an attitude? ”, Howhannisjan said. He became ambassador to Germany.
