Election to the legislative assembly in Dahomey 1959
The election for the legislative assembly in Dahomey in 1959 took place on May 2, 1959 in what was then the French colony of Dahomey, today's state of Benin .
Although the Dahome Democratic Union received the most votes, it won the fewest seats due to the complex electoral law. The Republican Party of Dahomeys , which came second in terms of votes, won 37 of the 70 seats in the Dahomeys National Assembly .
