The Salzburg 4 constituency was a constituency for the elections to the House of Representatives in the Austrian Crown Land of Salzburg . The electoral district was created in 1907 with the introduction of the Reichsrat election regulations and existed until the collapse of the Habsburg monarchy.
history
After the Reichsrat had decided on the general, equal, secret and direct male suffrage in autumn 1906, the major reform of the electoral law through the sanctioning of Emperor Franz Joseph I came into effect on January 26, 1907 . With the new Reichsrat election order, a total of 516 electoral districts were created, with one member being elected in each constituency with the exception of Galicia in the course of the Reichsrat election. The MP had to prevail with an absolute majority in the first ballot or in a runoff election. The constituency of Salzburg 4 comprised the judicial districts of Salzburg , Oberndorf and Mattsee , with the communities of Maxglan, Gnigl, Aigen and Morzg of the judicial district of Salzburg (all constituency 2 ) and the seat of the court in Oberndorf ( constituency 3 ) being excluded from the constituency.
Franz Heilmayer ( Christian Social Party ) emerged victorious from the Reichsrat election in 1907 , with 74 percent clearly prevailing over his opponents from the Social Democrats and the German Conservative People's Party. With almost 70 percent, he was finally able to clearly defend his mandate in the 1911 Reichsrat election. The second strongest party in the constituency was the German Conservative People's Party or its successor party, the Deutsch Freiheitlich Volksbund , followed by the Social Democrats.
