The constituency of Chemnitz I was a state electoral district for the state elections in Saxony in 1990 , the first state election after the re-establishment of the state of Saxony. It had constituency number 59. For the state elections in 1994 , the constituency structure was changed as a result of the district reform, and the number of constituencies was reduced from 80 to 60. The area of ​​the constituency of Chemnitz I became part of one of the four constituencies in the city of Chemnitz.

The constituency area comprised parts of the city district center-north with the voting districts 060 to 174b.
