Emy Cesaroni (born April 15, 1952 in Terni , Italy as Emi Cesaroni ), German stage name Sabrina , is an Italian singer.

Life

Cesaroni first appeared as a singer at the Italian festival "Fuori la voca" in Alassio in 1968 and one year later contributed the theme song to the 5th edition of the Italian television program "Settevoci". In 1971 a tour of Bulgaria followed at the side of Paolo Battista and Brunetta .

On July 20, 1972, she married Franco Catullé in Milan . Their daughter Tharita emerged from the marriage.

In 1975 her career in Italy suffered a serious setback when she took part in the Sanremo Festival and her 1975 song ... amore mio was initially excluded from the competition as alleged plagiarism. The legal dispute lasted until 1981, when the municipality of Sanremo, which hosted the festival, was ultimately fined ten million lire .

In the meantime, Cesaroni tried to gain a foothold in Germany as a singer. There she appeared in 1976 and 1977 under the artist name "Sabrina", which was created only for the German-speaking market. She was under contract with the record label Polydor .

In the episode "The Death of the Trumpeter" of the crime series Derrick , the song written by Peter Thomas and sung by Cesaroni is to be heard without you , to which the actress Sabine von Maydell moved her lips. The B-side of the single, released in 1976, contains the purely instrumental song Opium, also composed by Thomas for this Derrick episode .

In the 92nd edition of the ZDF hit parade , broadcast on April 16, 1977 , Cesaroni alias Sabrina performed the song ... and you want to go on. This is the German version of the number one hit Porque te vas sung by the Spanish performer Jeanette Dimech . The German version was also interpreted by Nina Lizell .

None of their songs achieved notable success in the Italian or German charts.

At the beginning of the 1980s, Cesaroni gave up her musical career - not least as a result of the Sanremo controversy - and from then on devoted herself to her family.
