The constituency of Chemnitz III was a state electoral district for the state elections in Saxony in 1990 , the first state election after the re-establishment of the state of Saxony. Its constituency number was 61. For the state elections in 1994 , the constituency structure was changed as a result of the district reform, and the number of constituencies was reduced from 80 to 60. The area of ​​the constituency of Chemnitz III became part of one of the four constituencies in the city of Chemnitz.

The constituency area comprised parts of the western district with the voting districts 400 to 484.
