history

Even before the Second World War , the area north of the built-up area of Saarwellingen was sparsely populated, especially in the area of the road to the Saarwellingen- Nalbach train station (today B 405 ). At that time, however, the majority of this plain was still covered by the High Court Forest, which is where the name of the later settlement comes from.

This was created after the Second World War, when the Saarland was under the protectorate of France (see also: Saarland 1947 to 1956 ) in order to meet the increased demand for living space, which resulted primarily from the boom in the nearby industrial companies. The location offered itself due to the proximity to the Dillinger Hütte , the Dynamit Nobel plant and the planned industrial area Saarwellingen-Dickenwald. The neighboring Ford plant in Saarlouis opened in 1970.

As a result, a separate district developed, which showed a number of characteristics of a place of its own: With the Ludwig-Geraldy-Schule there was its own elementary school , post office and savings bank opened local branches, numerous shops, restaurants and a gas station settled there. The high point of this development was the founding of the parish of St. Pius , which resulted in the construction of its own parish church (1959–1960) with a community center and a kindergarten . Later, the district received a special school with a home for the disabled and an integrative kindergarten. Until a few years ago, the Saarwellingen Forestry Office was also located in the forest . The Saarwellingen school center is also in the immediate vicinity .

However, the forest never achieved the status of an independent district with a local council, but has always belonged to the Saarwellingen district, since there is no structural separation.
