The forest railway Pizhma River ( Russian Пижемская узкоколейная железная дорога , transkr. Pischemskaja uskokoleinaja schelesnaja doroga , transl. Pižemskaâ uzkokolejnaâ železnaâ doroga ) is a twelve-kilometer narrow-gauge railway in the urban-type settlement Pizhma River in the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast in Russia with a track width of 750 millimeters.

history

The forest railway was put into operation in 1926 and is still in operation occasionally today (2017) . At its peak, the route network was more than eighty kilometers long. Today the forest railway is used for the transport of wood and for the transport of forest workers. In 2017 the tracks were repaired in places.

Freight and passenger cars

There are several log wagons, tankers, bulk goods wagons for transporting gravel during track construction and at least one PS-1 snow plow. There are also simple Teplushka coaches .
