The forest railway Udimski ( Russian Удимская узкоколейная железная дорога , transkr. Udimskaja uskokoleinaja schelesnaja doroga , transl. Udimskaâ uzkokolejnaâ železnaâ doroga ) with a track width of 750 millimeters at the village Udimski in the Arkhangelsk Oblast in Russia .

history

The forest railway started operating in 1938. It is still in operation all year round. The route network was meanwhile more than 81 kilometers long, today 61 kilometers are still in operation. The railway is used by the Ilim Group's paper manufacturer OJSC to transport felled trees and forest workers. In 2009 a new locomotive depot was built and put into operation.

wagons There are several log wagons, open and closed freight wagons, tankers, bulk goods wagons for transporting gravel when building tracks and at least one snow plow. In addition to passenger cars, there are also simple dining or lounge cars.
