The Waldensian Church is the Protestant church of Mariendorf , a district of the municipality of Immenhausen in the Hessian district of Kassel . The church is listed as a cultural monument.

Founded in 1687 by Landgrave Karl von Hessen-Kassel for Waldensian religious refugees mainly from the Dauphiné and named after his wife Maria Amalia von Kurland , Mariendorf received its own church between 1701 and 1705 on the initiative of Pastor Jacob Le Blanc, who was transferred from Schmalkalden . The building of the church was mainly financed by donations from Switzerland and the Netherlands, but also by donations from the landgrave, whose name is mentioned in the inscription above the church portal: "Maria Amalia Landgravia nata Prin: Curlandia anno MDCCV". After completion of the interior work, the church was consecrated on June 9, 1710, and the preacher Louis de Lescure gave the consecration sermon.

The church, built in quarry stone and plastered, is a simple structure with a mansard roof and a roof turret and a triangular gable above the eaves-side portal. During the extensive restoration in 1971, the original furnishings were removed and the Protestant cross-hall church was reoriented to the longitudinal axis. French Bible quotations (restored in 1987) were affixed above the pulpit, which was originally set up alongside the side.

Since 2005, the municipality of Mariendorf has formed a joint association with that of Immenhausen within the Hofgeismar parish of the Evangelical Church of Kurhessen-Waldeck .
