The Hautastein is a historic stone cross in the community-free area of ​​Fischbach in the Middle Franconian district of Nürnberger Land in Bavaria . It is also called Hausener Stein , Hifma Hafma Sta , Hautasta , or Forschterkreuz .

location

The stone cross is located about 3.2 kilometers northeast of Fischbach near Nuremberg and 2.4 kilometers southwest of Brunn . It stands there directly on a forest road , which is also called the Steinbruchweg and is part of the Christian-Woesch-Weg ( Point rot.png) hiking trail . The administration of the Bavarian State Forests put up an information board on site in 2017.

The cross is not one of the atonement crosses , but is a so-called memorial mark. It is made of sandstone in Latin form , about 100 cm high, 82 cm wide and 30 cm deep. The right arm of the cross was broken off and was expertly reattached in 1954 by the German Stone Cross Research, which is only recognizable today through a small groove. The writing "Martin hauta forster anno 1598" is carved on the front. Hence its name, Hautastein . The other names are a local dialectical blurring of Hauta. The font has been revised several times, so the year 1898 used to be read. This has now disappeared and due to the revision, the font can no longer be considered as original. Further heavily weathered remains of characters can be seen on the front, which can no longer be deciphered.

In spring 2020, the cross was allegedly very badly damaged by a falling tree.

History and legend

It is said that at this point the forester Martin Hauta , who wanted to bring the wages for the workers to Netzstall , was killed and robbed.
