Forest Guinea (French Guinée forestière ) is one of the four unofficial, geographically defined regions of Guinea . It is located in the south of the country.

The region is located in the tropical rainforest and has poor transport links to the rest of Guinea. It is inhabited by several Atlantic and Mande peoples. The languages spoken by only a few speakers are, however, threatened by the Malinke . New Malinke dialects have already developed in parts of forest Guinea. Most of the inhabitants of forest Guinea are still followers of traditional African religions, while in Guinea Islam otherwise predominates.

Forest Guinea has recently been affected by refugee flows from the neighboring countries of Sierra Leone , Liberia and Ivory Coast because of the civil wars there. This put a strain on the already poor region and increased the pressure on the remaining forest areas. In the northern parts of forest Guinea are z. T. no more forests.

Forest Guinea corresponds roughly to the administrative region of Nzérékoré and the prefecture of Kissidougou in the neighboring Faranah .
