Waldo Dunnington

Guy Waldo Dunnington (born January 15, 1906 in Bowling Green , Missouri , † April 10, 1974 in Natchitoches , Louisiana ) was an American mathematician.

Dunnington taught German and history of mathematics in St. Louis, Kansas City and La Crosse, Wisconsin, before becoming professor of German at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches in 1946 . He is best known for his biography of Carl Friedrich Gauß , which first appeared in 1955 and is based on decades of research (his archive on Gauß went to his university after his death).
