Valery Nikolajewitsch Ivannikow ( Russian Валерий Николаевич Иванников ; born January 28, 1967 in Chelyabinsk , Russian SFSR , Soviet Union ) is a former Russian ice hockey goalkeeper and current coach . His son Yevgeny is also a professional ice hockey goalkeeper.

Career

Valery Ivannikov began his career as a hockey player at HK Traktor Chelyabinsk , for which he was active between 1984 and 1987 in the Vysschaya League , the highest Soviet league, among others . For the 1987/88 season, the goalkeeper moved to SKA Saint Petersburg . From 1994 to 1995 he ran for HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk and then one season for HK Lada Tolyatti in the Russian Super League . For Chimik Woskressensk he was between the posts from 1996 to 1998. In 1998 Ivannikov returned to Saint Petersburg. Most recently he performed for HK Junost Minsk in Belarus from 2003 to 2005 . He then ended his active career at the age of 38.

International

Valery Ivannikov he was in his country's squad at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer . At the 1994 World Cup, he finished fourth with his team.
