Witzeldorf is a district of the market Frontenhausen in the Lower Bavarian district of Dingolfing-Landau .

location

The church village of Witzeldorf is located in the Vilstal about two kilometers southwest of Frontenhausen on State Road 2083 in the Rampoldstetten district .

history

Witzeldorf, like most places directly on the Vils and ending on -dorf, probably originated in the 8th or 9th century. The pre-Romanesque castle complex located here formed a district center. The field name south of the village is still called "Burgberg" today. The place of the castle is now taken by the branch church. The patronage of St. Margareta indicates a cleared area and was probably introduced during the main clearing period from the 9th to the 11th century.

Witzeldorf formed in 1669 together with the Winzersdorf on the other side of the Vils a chairman in the Frontenhausen office. In the year of conscription in 1752, nothing had changed in this formation, which was subordinate to the Teisbach Regional Court . Seven properties were then part of the district court, while five properties belonged to the Hofmark Aham .

After the community was formed in 1818, Witzeldorf belonged to the community of Rampoldstetten and came with this in the course of the regional reform on May 1, 1978 to the market Frontenhausen. At the 1987 census, the place had 67 inhabitants.
