Valery Pavlovich Zhukov ( Russian Валерий Павлович Жуков ; born February 8, 1988 in Gorki , Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player who has been under contract with HK Kuban Krasnodar from the Wysschaja Hockey League since August 2012 .

Career

Valery Zhukov began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod , for whose second team he was active in the third-rate Pervaya League in the 2003/04 season . In the following season he ran for the third division HK Sarow before returning to his home club. For Torpedo's professional team he made his debut in the Wysschaja Liga , the second Russian division, in the 2005/06 season . In the following season he rose with his team as second division champions in the super league .

After Zhukov had spent a season with Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod in the Super League, the team was included in the newly established Continental Hockey League for the 2008/09 season . In his rookie year in the KHL, he scored one goal in 19 games. In the following season he increased to five templates in 23 games, where he ran parallel in eleven games for Torpedo's junior team Tschaika Nizhny Novgorod in the first-ever multinational youth league Molodjoschnaja Chokkeinaja Liga .

During the 2010/11 season , the former junior international fell out almost the entire season and played only one KHL game for Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod, as well as five games for his ex-club HK Sarov in the new second division, the Wysschaya Hockey League .

International

For Russia , Zhukov took part in the U18 World Junior Championship in 2006 , in which he finished fifth with his team. In the course of the tournament he remained pointless in six games and received two penalty minutes. He was also in his country's squad for the 2007 Super Series .
