Mohammed Nabus

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mohammed Nabus ( Arabic محمد نبوس, DMG Muḥammad Nabūs ; * February 27, 1983 ; † March 19, 2011 in Benghazi , Libya ), also known under the pseudonym "Mo", was a blogger and civil journalist in Benghazi.

Life

To support the uprising in Libya in 2011 , Nabbous, an electrical and computer technician by profession, founded the Internet-based television station Libya Al-Hurra TV in February 2011 , which was the first private television station in Benghazi.

When the National Transitional Council was formed in Benghazi , Nabbous set up his studio in its building. He himself apparently became a member of the National Transitional Council, which kept some of its members secret.

The correspondent for the news magazine Der Spiegel, Clemens Höges, described Nabbous as “perhaps the most important man in the revolution” on the occasion of a report in the encircled Benghazi.

On March 19, 2011, he was fatally hit by a bullet while driving to record war noise in Benghazi.

Nabbous left behind his pregnant wife Perdita, who wants to continue his work.

Libya Alhurra has now started regular broadcasting and can be received via satellite throughout Libya.
