Valery Vladimirovich Kleschnjow ( Russian Валерий Владимирович Клешнёв , also known as Valery Kleshnev ; born October 15, 1958 in Leningrad , Soviet Union ) is a former Soviet rower and Olympic silver medalist.
After his active career as an athlete, Kleschnjow became a sports scientist, in 1991 he received his doctorate at the Saint Petersburg Research Institute for Physical Culture . He later worked as a biomechanic with the Australian national rowing team at the Australian Institute of Sport for seven years . From 2005 to 2009 he held a similar position in the British Association of British Rowing . Meanwhile he leads the company BioRow , with which he advises national rowing teams worldwide, and publishes in the field of biomechanics of rowing.
