The Anthony Glacier is a glacier on the Wilkins Coast of Palmer Lands on the Antarctic Peninsula . It flows in an east-southeast direction to Stefansson Strait , which it reaches north of Lewis Point and southwest of the southern tip of Hearst Island .
The upper section of the glacier was explored by a sled team from the British Graham Land Expedition (1934-1937) led by the Australian polar explorer John Rymill . The seaward section sighted a sled team with the United States Antarctic Service Expedition (1939-1941). In 1947 aerial photographs were taken during the American Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition . Their expedition leader, the American polar explorer Finn Ronne , named the glacier after Alexander Anthony, Vice President of the New York company J. P. Stevens Co , which provided windproof protective clothing for the research trip.
