Walid Mesloub (born September 4, 1985 in Trappes ) is an Algerian - French football player .
Club career
Mesloub grew up near Versailles and played in his youth for a club from the city. From there he moved to SC Levallois in the immediate vicinity of the French capital Paris in 2005 . At Levallois he was a member of the fourth division squad of a club from 2006 to 2007, for which Didier Drogba had played, among others . In 2007, the Algerian-born player made the leap to the third division with his move to FC Istres , where he was also able to secure a regular place that he had previously held in the fourth division. After he had achieved promotion to the second highest division with the team in 2009, he made his second division and thus his professional debut in the 1-0 win against Bastia on August 7, 2009.
Mesloub, who was one of the top performers in the Istres jersey for the entire first half of the season, was sold to league rivals Le Havre AC in January 2010 . Nothing is known about a possible transfer fee. At Le Havre, the player gained a position in the starting eleven, which he was able to defend in the course of the following seasons. In the summer of 2014 he was signed by the first division club FC Lorient ; no transfer fee was due. Despite the fact that he had never competed in the top French league before, he was able to fight for a regular place with the West French within a short time.
National team
Towards the end of his first year in Le Havre, the Algerian player was appointed to the Algerian national team in autumn 2010 . For this he made his debut when he came on in the 46th minute of the game against Luxembourg on November 17. This friendly game was initially his only use for the selection. In the run-up to the 2015 African Cup of Nations, he was back in the extended squad and on September 6, 2015, his international career continued with a 3-1 win over Lesotho after almost five years. This qualifying game for the 2017 African Championship was also his first competitive game in the national jersey. Subsequently, he was regularly appointed to the selection.
