The Wallace rock is a rock formation in the West Antarctic Marie Byrd Land . It rises 1.5 km east of the Peter Nunatak on the southeastern foothills of the McCuddin Mountains .
The United States Geological Survey mapped it using the United States Navy's own surveys and aerial photographs from 1959 to 1965. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named the Nunatak in 1974 after James W. Wallace (* 1934), chief operating engineer on the Amundsen- Scott South Pole Station in 1965 and 1969.
