The Peter Nunatak is a distinctive, conical and 2,440 m high nunatak in the West Antarctic Marie Byrd Land . It rises 6 km southeast of Mount Petras on the southern foothills of the McCuddin Mountains .
The United States Geological Survey mapped it using the United States Navy's own surveys and aerial photographs from 1959 to 1965. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named the Nunatak in 1974 after Peter J. Anderson, technical editor in the Department of History and Research US Navy support units in Antarctica for Operation Deep Freeze in 1971 and 1972.
