The pilgrimage chapel Müllenwerft (also “pilgrimage chapel for God's need” ) was built in the 16th century “in honor of the Holy Trinity, the Passion of Christ and his blessed mother, and in honor of St. John the Baptist and Other Saints ”. It stood in the meadows of the Wirftbach Valley between Barweiler-Mühle and today's state road L 10 (district Rodder ) and for centuries was one of the most famous pilgrimage sites in the Hocheifel , which, according to the latest evidence (1744), resulted in four altars, a pulpit, four confessionals, numerous sculptures and candlesticks along with sacristy helped. With a length of 32 m and a width of 11 m, it was a stately building.

Care was provided by the Johanniterkommende and the Franciscan monastery in Adenau . When the French authorities dissolved it around 1800, the chapel was closed. The inventory was sold. The altar of grace (with the Lamentation of Christ) was found in St. Wendelinus (Kirmutscheid) , the Altar of Mary (with the year 1685) in Wirft and the Altar of Anne in Müsch . Two bells from 1647 are in Hoffeld .

The landowner Servatius from Barweiler bought the chapel in 1823 for 200 Cologne thalers ; the state bought the property in 1884 for demolition.

A chapel in memory of the pilgrimage church has stood near the former pilgrimage site on the eastern edge of the valley since 1989.
