The Wirftbach is an approximately 12 kilometers long right tributary of the Trierbach .

The Wirftbach rises near the south loop of the Nürburgring south of Hocheichen (height 589) on the district road 73 in the district of Nürburg , and flows in a north-westerly direction. On its way to the Trierbach it forms the border between Kottenborn and Wiesemscheid or Barweiler and flows through Werft before flowing into the Trierbach below the church of St. Wendelinus (Kirmutscheid) .
Catchment area and tributaries
The Wirftbach drains its 22.2 km² catchment area via Trierbach , Ahr and Rhine to the North Sea .
- Goldbach , from the right about one kilometer northwest of Kottenborn , 2.8 km and 3.1 km².
- Sellbach , from the right shortly after the residential area In der Werft von Wimbach , 2.3 km and 1.6 km².
- Goddelbach , from the right, 2.8 km and 4.7 km².
- Broken soaps , from the left at the Dreimüllerhof von Wirft residential area , approx. 1.5 km and approx.
particularities
The mills Kottenborner-Mühle and Barweiler-Mühle are located on the Wirftbach. In the Bachtal below the Barweiler mill, the Müllenwirft pilgrimage chapel stood until 1885 . ( ⊙ )
Near the mouth of the Goddelbach ( ⊙ ) the old road from Reifferscheid crossed the Bachtal and today's Landesstraße 10 on a dam along the Goddelbach . The dam and the dry stone bridge structure with a bridge arch have been preserved.
