In the event of a defense, it is used to trigger prepared explosions, for example at blast shafts .

Qualification: main occupation in construction, pioneer sergeant, study of structural engineering at a technical college (4 semesters)

These pioneers also work in the civilian sector as part of their missions for United Nations contracts in distant countries. Here the qualified training of the pioneer NCOs as construction technicians is necessary in order to e.g. B. to be able to build safe bridges. Improvisational skills and technical know-how are just as important as physical robustness.

The Wallmeister is integrated into the Wallmeister organization.

history

The Wallmeister organization was introduced into the Bundeswehr in 1957 in order to organize the actual national defense of the Federal Republic of Germany from a structural point of view. Until 1973 it consisted of Wallmeister groups with the subordinate Wallmeister troops, after which the Wallmeister were subordinated to the Defense District Command. The pioneer service group was in charge here. With the reconstruction and order reorientation of the Bundeswehr, the Wallmeister no longer exists as a national defender since 2006.

In the new structure, the pioneers in the area of the defense district commands will therefore initially be taken over at a ratio of 1: 1. The proven Wallmeister will continue to be trained as a construction technician and will perform the tasks listed above and also be active in environmental protection . There are three Wallmasters in each of the state commandos of Hesse , Bavaria and Lower Saxony .
