The State Command of Bavaria ( LKdo BY ) has been the highest territorial command authority of the Bundeswehr in the largest federal state in terms of area since 2007 . It has been subordinate to the Territorial Tasks Command (Berlin) since 2013 and is the primary contact of the Bavarian State Government in the context of civil-military cooperation . Until 2013 it was subordinate to the Military District Command IV - Southern Germany . Commander is Brigadier General Thomas Hambach , Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff is Colonel Andreas Brendel.
The command, based in the Fürst-Wrede barracks in Munich , has all command areas that have counterparts on the various levels. The technical training of the personnel is largely carried out by the Multinational Civil-Military Cooperation Command (MN CIMIC Cmd), which also assigns personnel.

history
In 2019 a pilot project started to re-establish homeland security associations in the form of state regiments. On April 1, 2019, the first state regiment in Bavaria, under the command of Colonel of the Reserve Stefan Berger, was put into service. The three existing companies of the regional security and support forces (RSU) are integrated into the state regiment in Bavaria with its total strength of around 500 reservists: The RSU companies in Middle Franconia, Upper Franconia and Lower Franconia. The regimental headquarters will be based in the Fürst-Wrede barracks in Munich and will report to Brigadier General Thomas Hambach, the commander of the Bavarian State Command.
