Basic training for the unserved
The General Basic Training of the Federal Armed Forces (AGA) represents the first phase of training in the case of an appointment in a public service relationship for both military service and temporary soldiers .
The suspension of compulsory military service at the beginning of 2011 has an impact on the recruitment of young people and the availability of the reservists' staff . Associations made up of a large number of reservists (e.g. regional security and support forces ) have the task of setting up operational organizational elements and units and of regenerating them. This is particularly important in the area of younger teams.
Due to these framework conditions, the training of undocumented workers to recruit young people is gaining in importance in order to ensure long-term regeneration. In various state commandos or their regional staffs or regional planning and support teams, this training is carried out according to the principle "reservists train reservists". The training mainly takes place on weekends over a period of two years. The Association of Reservists of the German Federal Armed Forces e. V. has been offering this training since 2017 on the responsibility of its own members and full-time employees, at the end of which the participants are certified by the Bundeswehr. The training of the first unused took place as part of a pilot project in Berlin and Brandenburg. In February 2019, 18 reservists successfully completed their basic training with a recruit inspection.

The structure and design of the training are the responsibility of the respective state commandos or regional staffs. In addition to imparting theoretical basics, the focus is primarily on the practical implementation of training courses. The previous knowledge as well as the civil professional qualifications should be used. The content of the training is to acquire general military skills such as:
- Handling of the P8 pistol and G36 rifle weapons
- Life in the field
- Guard and security duties
- ABC and medical training
- Political education
- Conveying the content of Inner Guidance
Promotion and career opportunities
In addition to the transfer of demanding and socio-politically significant tasks or the acquisition of additional qualifications for the civilian profession, the service as a reservist offers above all opportunities for promotion and promotion in one of the career paths of the crews , NCOs or officers . General basic training is a prerequisite for this, regardless of career path. Individual classification in a career is based on the principle of suitability, performance and ability. These include, for example, already acquired qualifications or the level of education.
