Section three (C) describes the basic aspects in the training of soldiers such as formal service , weapon training or medical service.

The last part (appendix) gives an overview of military-specific rank , danger and markings.

history

The book was named after its author, Colonel Dr. iur. Wilhelm Reibert . The book was first published in 1929 and has been updated regularly since then. But there are also predecessors, for example the book “Service instruction for the infantryman of the German Army ” by Lieutenant Colonel Transfeldt (1914). Only from 1946 (after the surrender of the German Wehrmacht ) to 1958 (shortly after the establishment of the Bundeswehr ), i.e. in the time when Germany did not have its own army, the work on the Reibert was not continued. Since 1959, the "new Reibert" appeared initially as Brandt / Reibert. The contents of the pre-war editions were revised and re-compiled by Captain Jürgen Brandt .

The Reibert is not an official regulation; it is acquired privately.

Before the end of the war there were specialized editions for the individual branches of arms and also special editions, for example Reibert for the newsman, Reibert for the news soldier, Reibert for the rifle company, Reibert for the gunner and for drivers . There were at least 18 different editions, from pioneer to driver; but the best known is the one for "Schützen der Schützenkompanie".

The Reibert was published from 1959 to 1989 in three editions for the armed forces army, air force and navy. Since 1989, however, only a uniform complete edition has been produced.

Similar books

Before 1945 there were a number of comparable books, the production of which was discontinued (e.g. "The Soldier's Primer", "Wehrwolf").

In 1977 the Sendler Verlag Frankfurt am Main published a brochure with the title: Im Klartext. Der Reibert - The manual for the soldier.

For a long time there was the paperback for military training (previously published as a paperback for conscripts ) from the Walhalla Fachverlag in Regensburg. The 78th edition was published on March 28, 2014.

The paperback for defense issues with illustrations and information on state and defense policy principles, armed forces, defense legislation, organization of national defense and more has also been published.

The manual military basic knowledge , last edition in 1988 in the military publishing house of the GDR , was a comparable work for the soldiers of the National People's Army .

There is also a comparable work for the USA with The Soldier's BCT Handbook (BCT = Basic Combat Training; corresponds to the basic training in the Bundeswehr). Only issues from the years 1968/69 are known.
