Volker Trojan (born January 5, 1942 ) is a former German football player. In Leipzig he played for SC Rotation , SC Leipzig and BSG Chemie in the 1960s and 1970s in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football .

Athletic career

After Volker Trojan had last played in the fifth-class Leipzig district class at the company sports club (BSG) Motor in Böhlitz-Ehrenberg until 1960 , he was accepted into the league team of SC Rotation Leipzig for the 1961/62 season. He was called up from the beginning in the league games as a defender, but had to pause for a year after 19 appearances. It was not until the beginning of the second half of the 1962/63 season that he was used again at intervals in eight league games. Before the start of the 1963/64 season, the two Leipzig league teams were dissolved. The supposedly best players were assigned to the newly founded SC Leipzig, while the rest were assigned to BSG Chemie Leipzig. The 1963/64 season surprisingly ended with BSG Chemie winning the title, which left SC Leipzig in third place. Trojan belonged to SC Leipzig, but only contributed to third place with twelve league appearances. He also played in both games of SC Leipzig in the Messestädte-Pokal in 1963/64 against Újpest Budapest . With 23 appearances, Trojan won a regular place in the Oberligaelf as a midfielder in 1964/65. Of the two trade fair cup games against Wiener Sport-Club , he only played the first leg. After Trojan could only complete eleven league games in 1965/66, he moved to local rivals Chemie Leipzig for the 1966/67 season. There he immediately had a regular place in the league team, which he was able to defend until 1975. While he was initially used in midfield, he played in defense from 1972. Twice (1971, 1974) Trojan had to relegate to the GDR league with BSG Chemie , each time being immediately promoted again. At the age of 33, he went into his last league season with Chemie Leipzig in 1975, in which he only played the first nine point games. After that, he made 253 appearances in his 13 league seasons and scored nine goals. For the 1976/77 season he moved to BSG Stahl Nordwest Leipzig in the fourth class district class. Within two years he rose with the team up to the GDR league, but finally ended his career as a football player in 1978.
