The City of Frankfurt am Main's Walter Möller plaque is awarded to citizens' initiatives, communities or groups that have made outstanding contributions to the common good in Frankfurt. It is named after the former Lord Mayor of Frankfurt, Walter Möller , who specifically promoted the commitment of the citizens and their cooperation with the city administration. The award, endowed with 10,000 euros, is seen as a symbol of a critical and fruitful relationship between active citizens and the city administration. It was awarded annually from 1977 onwards, and every two years from 1986 onwards. In 1986, 1988, 1994 and 2000, the Walter Möller plaque was presented to two award winners, and the prize money was accordingly divided.
