Walter Augustin

Walter Augustin (born March 30, 1936 in Horn (Hunsrück) ; † April 26, 2020 there ) was a German politician of the FDP .

Augustin attended the Horn elementary school from 1942 to 1950 and the agricultural school from 1954 to 1956. In 1967 he became an agricultural master and worked as a self-employed farmer.

In 1969 he joined the FDP and was a member of the Simmern / Hunsrück municipal council for his party from 1970 to 2009 , and was a parliamentary group speaker. 1974 to 1994 he was a member of the local council Horn (Verbandsgemeinde Simmern). From 1979 to 2005 he held the office of local mayor of Horn , and from 1994 to 2009 he was also a member of the district council and the district committee in the Rhein-Hunsrück district . On January 10, 2000, he replaced the late Peter Caesar in the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament and was a member of this until the end of the 2001 electoral term. In the state parliament he was a member of the committee for agriculture and viticulture.

1960 to 1965 and 1967 to 1985 he was a member of the board and 1971 to 1985 chairman of TuS Horn. From 1969 to 1990 he was a member of the board of directors of Raiffeisenbank Horn, from 1969 to 1990 a member of the board of directors of Milchwerke Hunsrück, and from 1975 to 1999 a member of the board of the Rhine-Hunsrück farmers and winegrowers' association. In addition, he worked for the Koblenz Higher Administrative Court , Land Consolidation Court for Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland, Bad Kreuznach District Court , Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland Agricultural Court and was a member of the Rhine-Hunsrück District Expert Committee.

In 2004 he was awarded the Freiherr vom Stein plaque .
