Walter Augustus de Havilland

Walter Augustus de Havilland (born August 31, 1872 in Lewisham , † May 20, 1968 in Vancouver ) was a British lawyer.

De Havilland was the youngest of eight children of Charles Richard de Havilland (1823-1901) and Magaret Letitia († 1910), daughter of Captain John Molesworth and sister of Samuel Molesworth, 8th Viscount Molesworth . He was educated at Harrow School and Elisabeth College in Guernsey. From 1890 to 1893 he studied theology and classics at Cambridge . In 1893 he graduated with a bachelor's degree and in 1902 with a master's degree.

De Havilland worked as a lawyer and law professor in Japan . He was a member of the Chartered Institute of Patent Agents .

He was also a well-known go player .

In 1914 he married the actress Lillian Fontaine . With her had daughters Olivia de Havilland and Joan Fontaine , who both became actresses. They divorced in 1925. Between 1927 and 1958 he was married to Yuki Matsu-Kura, his former housemaid, and from 1960 to Rosemary Connor. He spent his twilight years in British Columbia .
