Walter Botsch

Walter Botsch (born February 27, 1897 in Braunsbach ; † January 7, 1969 in Schwäbisch Gmünd ) was a lieutenant general in World War II .

Life

Botsch attended grammar school in Heilbronn, where he probably passed the school leaving examination in 1915. He served as an officer in the First World War . After the end of the war the Reichswehr took over him and he was used in various units.

With the establishment of the 19th Army in France in 1943, Botsch served as Chief of the General Staff until he was replaced on January 1, 1945. In February, he served as commander of the 18th Volksgrenadier Division . In the last days of the war in March 1945 he was promoted to LIII as Commanding General . Army corps transferred. At the end of March there was another transfer to LVIII. Panzer Corps .
