Walter C. Reckless

Walter C. Reckless (* 1898 in Philadelphia , † 1988 in Dublin (Ohio) ) was an American sociologist and criminologist . He is a member of the Chicago School and a pioneer in the sociology of crime .

Reckless was a student of Robert Ezra Park . In the 1920s, he investigated organized crime in Chicago. He later focused on investigating juvenile delinquency. He taught sociology at Vanderbilt University for 16 years and was a professor at Ohio State University for 30 years . With his hold theory he made a classic contribution to textbook criminology.
