Walter Castor
The Walter Castor is an aircraft engine from the Czechoslovak manufacturer Walter Motors as
development
The first version of the Walter Castor was developed in 1929. In 1932 the performance-enhanced Castor II appeared . A version expanded to nine cylinders was constructed in 1937/1938 under the name Super-Castor . In contrast to the previous versions, it was equipped with an epicyclic reduction gear , high altitude loader and automatic mixture and boost pressure control.
construction
The air-cooled seven-cylinder - four cycle - radial engine is made of steel liners with the twisted ribs, cylinders with light metal heads and has a dry sump - circulation lubrication . Each cylinder has two valves that are controlled by the cam disk via push rods and rocker arms, as well as a main and articulated secondary connecting rod. The crankshaft is split and runs in two roller bearings and one axial ball bearing.
