The Caproni Ca.113 was an Italian trainer aircraft.
History and construction
Dei Ca.113 was developed in 1931 and was designed as a biplane . Originally, Walter Castor engines with 270 HP (179 kW) were used for this two-seater . Soon, however, the much more powerful Piaggio engine was used as standard.
The aircraft was used for advanced training and was also an excellent aerobatic machine. Several record flights have already been made in the standard version; with further modified special versions, some more records were set.
Height record in 1934
For trying to break the altitude record, one with a Ca.113 was Bristol Pegasus - radial engine with additional supercharger fitted. This engine was built under license by Alfa Romeo and used a special four-blade propeller . The span was increased to 14.15 m. With this aircraft Renato Donati reached an altitude record on April 11, 1934 with an altitude of 14,433 m. With the same aircraft, the Contessa Carina Negrone achieved a height record for women in 1935 with 12,010 m.
