History and Development
The Caproni Ca.100 was a one and a half decker and was constructed in 1929. It was based on the De Havilland DH60 (Moth), but had a number of small changes, in particular an enlarged lower wing and vertical tail surfaces . The ca.100 was produced in larger numbers from 1929 for both the military and the civilian market.
In the course of its career, the ca.100 received many different engines with different performances such as B .:
- Blackburn Cirrus Minor with 90 PS (63 kW)
- Isotta Fraschini Asso 80 R with 115 PS (86 kW)
- Colombo S.63 with 145 PS (108 kW)
- Fiat A.50 with 85 PS (63 kW)
From 1934 a light training aircraft for bombing was created, which could carry four small bombs and was equipped with a 130 HP (97 kW) engine.
From Macchi 30 pieces in the variant were Ca.100 Idro manufactured as seaplanes with two floats. One of these aircraft set an altitude record for seaplanes in 1931 with a height of 5,018 m. Further licensed machines were manufactured in Peru from 1935. The Caproni company had a branch in Bulgaria, the approximately 100 built there had the designation KN-1.
