Walter "Watty" Samuel Corbett (born November 26, 1880 in Wellington , Shropshire , † November 23, 1960 in Birmingham ) was an English football player .

Athletic career

Corbett played on the school team at Vicarage Road Council & King Edward Grammar School while in school . The defender then played for Thornhill FC , Astbury Richmond , Headingly FC and Soho Villa , clubs all of which were based in Handsworth, a district of Birmingham . He then played for FC Bournbrook before joining Aston Villa in June 1904 . In July 1907 he moved to Birmingham FC for which he played until May 1911, with the exception of two short breaks ( Queens Park Rangers in September 1907 and Wellington Town in April 1909).

For the English national team , Corbett played three games in just seven days in 1908 during the English national team's first European tour. So he was in the victories against Austria (6: 1) on June 6, Hungary (7: 0) on June 10 and Bohemia (4: 0), in their last international match on June 13.

At the 1908 Olympic soccer tournament , he won the gold medal with the amateur national team . In total, he played 15 times for the amateur selection.
