Walter Eisler

Walter Eisler (born September 15, 1954 in Leipzig as Walter Heisig ; † May 10, 2015 there ) was a German painter and graphic artist .

Life

Walter Eisler was the son of Bernhard Heisig and brother of Johannes Heisig . In view of the dominance of his father Bernhard Heisig, Walter Eisler took his mother's surname Brunhilde Eisler in the 1980s . Eisler initially began studying process engineering at the TH Merseburg , which he broke off. From 1976 to 1978 he worked in his father's studio. From 1978 to 1982 he studied at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig with his father and with Volker Stelzmann . After graduating, he worked on the monumental painting “ Early Bourgeois Revolution in Germany ” by Werner Tübke in Bad Frankenhausen . Since 1984 he has been working as a freelance painter.

Study trips took him to Italy, England, Tunisia and several times to the USA.

Eisler lived and worked in Hamburg until the beginning of 2014, then in Leipzig.

Painting style
